Arend Calas began his counselling journey at the age of 18 — not as a career choice, but as a calling. Now 51, with 33 years of dedicated practice behind him, he has built one of the most distinctive and results-driven counselling approaches in Australia.
Holding multiple accreditations across drug and alcohol counselling, anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, addiction, and relationship issues, Arend's strength lies not in any single methodology but in his ability to draw from all of them. His approach is holistic, unorthodox, and relentlessly tailored to the individual — because no two people, and no two problems, are the same.
His flagship speciality is working with young people struggling with drug and alcohol dependency, and — crucially — with the parents and families who are desperate to help them. The results speak for themselves: many of his clients are now 10 or more years clean, having come to him after years of failed attempts elsewhere.
Based in South-East Melbourne, Arend sees clients in person and via telehealth video sessions across all of Australia. His telehealth practice has become his most successful format — the privacy and comfort of your own space often allows clients to open up more freely, and the results reflect that.
